Installing a mosquito screen is simple once you know how the material behaves. A stable fit depends on clean surfaces,
correct tension, and making sure the mesh sits flush along every edge.
Before You Begin
- Clean the window frame (dust reduces adhesion and weakens magnets)
- Open the window fully
- Set the mesh on a flat surface to avoid twists
Installation Methods
Choose the method that matches your type of screen.
1. Magnetic Window Screens
Steps
- Position the magnetic frame strips on the window frame.
- Press firmly for 10–15 seconds per section.
- Lay the mesh over the frame, aligning top corners first.
- Allow magnets to bond naturally — avoid stretching.
- Check for gaps by shining a phone flashlight along the edges.
2. Adhesive Strip Screens
- Peel a small section of adhesive — don't remove all at once.
- Anchor the top edge first.
- Work downward evenly along both sides.
- Smooth gently to remove air pockets.
- Trim excess mesh along the bottom if needed.
3. Aluminum Framed Screens
- Insert the spline into the frame groove using a roller.
- Keep the mesh slack while setting the first edge.
- Apply tension gradually across the opposite side.
- Trim the edges with a sharp blade at a 45° angle.
- Snap the frame into the window recess.
Final Check
- No visible gaps
- Mesh lies flat without pulls or wrinkles
- Window opens and closes freely
A well-installed screen should stay tight and require almost no adjustment over the season.
