Window Mosquito Screen Installation Guide

A clear, step-by-step process so the screen stays flat, tight, and sealed.

Installing a mosquito screen is simple once you know how the material behaves. A stable fit depends on clean surfaces, correct tension, and making sure the mesh sits flush along every edge.

Before You Begin

Installation Methods

Choose the method that matches your type of screen.

1. Magnetic Window Screens

Steps

  1. Position the magnetic frame strips on the window frame.
  2. Press firmly for 10–15 seconds per section.
  3. Lay the mesh over the frame, aligning top corners first.
  4. Allow magnets to bond naturally — avoid stretching.
  5. Check for gaps by shining a phone flashlight along the edges.

2. Adhesive Strip Screens

  1. Peel a small section of adhesive — don't remove all at once.
  2. Anchor the top edge first.
  3. Work downward evenly along both sides.
  4. Smooth gently to remove air pockets.
  5. Trim excess mesh along the bottom if needed.

3. Aluminum Framed Screens

  1. Insert the spline into the frame groove using a roller.
  2. Keep the mesh slack while setting the first edge.
  3. Apply tension gradually across the opposite side.
  4. Trim the edges with a sharp blade at a 45° angle.
  5. Snap the frame into the window recess.

Final Check

A well-installed screen should stay tight and require almost no adjustment over the season.
